For a while now this section of the INTERracialWeb site has been a placeholder while we waited for a certain special software to be developed for the “main” feature. Well, it’s due to be available near the end of October! We will begin implementation around that time and will open the site up to everyone in the interracial/intercultural community who wish to take a beta test drive with us. Stay tuned and check back in late November to see what is going on ’round here. Changes are a comin’… Finally!
Update: The software will now be ready near the end of November.
Once it’s released in a less buggy fashion, we will begin development of the core of this site. Stay tuned.
What is Loving Day?
On June 12th, 1967, interracial couples became legal thanks to the Supreme Court decision entitled Loving v. Virginia. Before that date, states had the right to separate and punish interracial couples. These punishments included imprisonment of up to ten years. Violations included marriage, sex, and living together. This issue is a part of the civil rights movement that is too often forgotten. On June 12th of every year, celebrate your legal right to love a person of any race.
What should I do on Loving Day?
Loving Day is about remembering and celebrating your rights in any way you see fit. You can invite your friends over for a barbeque or a dinner party, make a toast, or spend some time with someone you love. The important thing is to make Loving Day your own, and to spread the word to others who might not know about it yet. Loving Day is a great reason to celebrate. Contact us about your party and send us a nice group photo! This way, everyone will know how many people are celebrating with them.
